If you are a beginner, it doesn't really matter which racket you buy but I'd suggest getting a light head racket. You need to build up that muscle memory and technique in delivering your shots and handling the shuttlecock. Once you feel that the racket is holding you back in developing your skills, then it's time to consider upgrading. I've always stuck with my Yonex rackets just because I've always gone with that brand. You can always just briefly borrow your friend's rackets for a quick test just to get the feeling. There's no perfect racket just off the shelf. I've always had it the other way round, at first a new racket will feel strange, but you always can adapt to it and just tweek your strings and tension. I'm using the Astrox 100zz and have the 1000z. The 1000z has always given me the power I needed, it's stiffer and slightly head heavier, but after two hours of playing, I do feel a bit worn out and I switch to the 100zz, which is slightly head lighter and glides through the air more swiftly which gives me the best balance in attack and defence. Again, my advice (been playing for maybe 20 years), test out rackets before you buy, then just tweek them a little with the tension and strings, the rest is adapting to it! And I play men's doubles 90% of the time btw!

I love badminton since I was young and was playing it just for fun on our front yard, parks or whereever for as long as there's a space where we can enjoy playing. I haven't played it yet with a net. I have an incoming friendly "competition" for our Unity Games which we members of the Church of Christ/Iglesia Ni Cristo celebrate every year. I thought I needed to know the basics and the easiest way to find out of course is through YT. I found your channel jjust yesterday, subscribed and been watching videos and it helped me so much to understand a lot of things as a beginner. I only have 9 days to practice and I guess I would be eliminated at once, LOL Hopefully not, but it doesn't really matter. Just joining it gave me some confidence already. I guess I will continue playing for health reasons. Thanks so much for your amazing videos. 👏👏👏👏

Yonex rackets are traps for online buyers. They never post any technical details for their rackets, like length, balance point. If you play in a club, you will see a lot of player modifying their Yonex rackets by adding weights. And why these players did not refund them. Because the rackets are too expensive compared to other brands ones, and they don’t want to be seen as an idiot with a lot of money.

I weighed 120 kg at 5'11 "ft when I started playing badminton. Yeah, pretty damn obese😂😂. But I play badminton 2 hrs nonstop on weekends, and the first time I played, my heart rate was 148 bpm. Then, while playing, it came down to 120 avg bpm. I was tired and got light-headed. Bent down to pick the shuttle and passed out 😂😂. This was the first time pushing myself to the limits. Then I started to work out ( cardio and hand weight badminton movements) 30 mins before the play to elevate the bpm as high as it could go if i straight away started playing. After a few weeks, my max bpm dropped to 135 bpm. And i got more active in life and started to lose weight after diet changes. Today, I weigh 95 kg, and it's been 1.5 years since i started playing badminton.
